COMMON GREEN DARNER

The largest of our local dragonflies are of the Darner family. Here is a female teneral Common Green Darner which I was fortunate to find resting on my Hydrangea tree next to the pond.

Hi Frank...Thank you! She allowed me to touch her ever so gently, but when I placed my hand directly in front of her to step onto, she flew off. The majority of dragonflies don't "walk", but I have had a few take a couple of steps unto my hand. One dragonfly that was slightly injured by my cat, took a few steps unto my hand. It walked or climbed all over my clothes as I sat down with it, finally flying off. Yep...back in the woods too long! Thanks for stopping, Frank.

Spooky,

Great shot of this female! Lucky to have her pose so well.

Hi Randy...Thank you! I was surprised when I turned to look at my tree(it's a relatively small tree)and there she was. She was just as curious of me as I of her...it was a thrill. Thank you for stopping by and your nice comments...I will try to visit you as well!
